Watt Laga Do Corrupt Autorickshaw walo ki

Being a Delhite you must be knowing the daily problems we face while hiring an autorickshaw. Some of the common problems are :

1. Refuse to go to the place, where you want them to go
2. Don't ply by meter
3. Overcharge
4. Misbehave

Delhi govt. tried a lot of things to control them but the root cause is that most of these autorickshaws are not owned by the drivers. They take it on hire & pay anything between Rs 300 to Rs 600 as daily charges to the Auto Mafia, who owns maximum no. of autorickshaws. As one of the NGOs working for the welfare of Autorickshaw drives states "Today, 90 out of 100 autorickshaws are in the vice-like grip of auto-mafia who operate in the garb of private financers. Genuine autorickshaw drivers have become bonded labourers at their hands." Because of this most of the challens go unserverd / returned, because the address mentioned are incorrect. This encourages the auto drivers, as they don't have any fear of law.

So what are the solutions available with public to deal with such auto drivers? Few of them, which people have used are listed below. More such ideas are welcome & would be added to the list :

1. If they Overcharge : For example for a distance, where the ideal fare amount is Rs 100 & he's asked for Rs 150 and you don't have time to wait for another auto. Then just board that & while paying say this "ये 100 रुपये तेरी मेहनत के और ये 50 रुपये तेरी बेईमानी के जिसमे मेरी बहुत सारी बददुआएँ भी है". This is a tried & tested method & worked most of the times. Most of the autowalas feel sorry, & will leave thinking that they have done something terribly wrong, 1-2 might also return you the overcharged amount & 1-2 may not feel anything. But your job is done, you made that person realize that he is a Crook & he's done something wrong & he's taking cursed money
2. If they Overcharge : Whatever amount they ask for, just agree to it & reach your destination. After reaching, he's now in your locality. Now you can refuse to pay him any extra money, just pay the actual fare. This is surely going to start an argument & you should use this method only if you think that you can handle the situation. Youngsters can use this. This also works most of the times & can be used, when you urgently need an autorickshaw & can't wait much.
3. If they refuse to Ply : Just stop an auto & sit in it, without telling where you want to go. After all its your right & his duty, because he's plying a public carrier & as per law he cannot refuse a passenger. After sitting in the auto, then tell him the destination, where you want him to go. If he still refuses, you can call the police & 99% of times it works. You have to be very bold in using this technique.
4. Use auto with Nayaybhoomi Logo (pic below) : These are the Autos registered with the NGO Nyayabhoomi. They follow all the rule, they will never overcharge or refuse to ply. They will always be in Uniform & show courteous behavior. We should encourage honest people so that more & more autowalas register with such organizations & make life easy for everybody
